Robert Janoch was inspired to build a boat after taking a course from John Gardner many years ago. It took him quite a while to actually buy the plans for the Marblehead Skiff from Mystic Seaport, then it took several years to build the boat.
The Richmond Yacht Club of San Francisco, CA designed this 8' El Toro sailing pram in 1936. The current owner, Jeff Brous, writes "This boat was built in 1966 by my father as a tender for our family cabin cruiser.
My Stradivari 2.4 Hc came to be as someone once told me that there’s one thing you can’t do and that is to build a true metre yacht in plywood. Now it’s a statement that is denied by reality.
John Jamieson worked for decades as a shipwright in Juneau, Alaska, before retiring to Kila, Montana. He now builds skiffs, kayaks, drift boats, and, with the arrival of a niece, cradle boats.
PHEATHER2 is a skin-on-frame canoe that weighs just a little over 11 pounds. The skin is 20 gauge clear vinyl and the boat is designed for calm water use only. The length is 12' 5" and I tow the canoe behind my bicycle using longboard wheels for the back end.
Carl Sylvester built this 15′3″ Gloucester Gull dory as an economy boat using fir marine plywood on pine frames. He fiberglassed bottom of the hull designed by Phil Bolger and Dynamite Payson.
I build this boat in 2014.
I spend over six months for this job.
She is a -Pasara- Launch.
The hull is made of three layers of spruce-3 mm thick.
Also the west system.
For the keel and the frames I used oak.
The rest in mahogany and teak.
Ken Foote built TRUANT using Edwin Monk's book How to Build Wooden Boats. TRUANT is a 12'6" catboat with 5'beam. He launched her in September of 2002. He used poplar for the bottom and sides, cypress and cottonwood for the trim.
