CHRISTABEL is an Acorn 15, Whitehall style pulling boat, designed by Iain Oughtred. I built her as a sister ship to EMMELINE, my peapod pulling boat. Each boat has unique handling characteristics and each is a joy to row.

ISLE 'A SKYE

This boat is a Caledonia Yawl. Distinguishing Features are as follow:

  • Gunter rig with gaff mizzen which eliminates the need for boomkin sheeting spar.
  • 12 buoyancy tanks for safer/quicker capsize recovery.
  • Ample dry storage as well as stiffer, stronger, safer hull.

Beetle Cat, hull #1545, built 1972.First delivered to Mr. Lea Spring of Crookston, MN, in 1972. Early bronze-fastened boat. At Mr. Spring’s premature passing, boat caretakers were the Hirsh family from approximately 1973-4 to JUL 2021.Purchased by me in JUL 2021; renamed from BOREAS to SPAT.

Home-built Bolger Cartopper rowboat. Stitch and glue plywood construction. Minor modification to design to provide a conventional fixed seat. Rigged solely for power / oar (no centerboard trunk).
