CHRISTABEL is an Acorn 15, Whitehall style pulling boat, designed by Iain Oughtred. I built her as a sister ship to EMMELINE, my peapod pulling boat. Each boat has unique handling characteristics and each is a joy to row.
This boat is a Caledonia Yawl. Distinguishing Features are as follow:
This custom kit was developed using Glen-L Zip plans .The precision CNC cut complete wood kit allows you to begin assembling your boat the minute you unpack it...no tracing, measuring, or cutting needed! Thanks to Glen-L Marine Design!
Beetle Cat, hull #1545, built 1972.First delivered to Mr. Lea Spring of Crookston, MN, in 1972. Early bronze-fastened boat. At Mr. Spring’s premature passing, boat caretakers were the Hirsh family from approximately 1973-4 to JUL 2021.Purchased by me in JUL 2021; renamed from BOREAS to SPAT.
Custom built cruising sailboat constructed with a 1 1/8″ thick spruce, edge nailed, strip-planked and West epoxy/10oz fiberglass hull and plywood and West epoxy/fiberglass decks and cabin.
Home-built Bolger Cartopper rowboat. Stitch and glue plywood construction. Minor modification to design to provide a conventional fixed seat. Rigged solely for power / oar (no centerboard trunk).
Some pictures of a just completed build of a Coastal Rowing single that I will row on local waters on both sides of Vancouver Island, where I live.
