Tom Hardison spent 7-+ years building this 24' yawl, LITTLE WOODY. The hull is from a modified Glen-L plan. He added a bowsprit, keel, and made the hull thicker, using two layers of 1/4" laminated plywood. Everything other than the hull was of the builder's design.
Eddie Peterman, age 14, indicated an interest in woodworking and building a boat. His first boat was a Sam Devlin design stitch and glue 8′ rowing pram that had a couple minor design changes.
Vince Trtan used a lot of 40-grit sandpaper in the restoration of this Old Town canoe, HW model, hull #150314-7. After sanding off the old canvas, he made new gunwales, keel, seats, and decks. Then he had to replace several ribs and planks.
Captain Yo of Southwest Harbor, Maine, designed, built, and launched this sailing model of the SANTA MARIA in Blue Hill Bay in October, 2011. He writes that the carved cedar hull is 33″ long and weighs 25 lbs.
Jericho Bay Lobster Skiff, launched in August, 2020. My first boat build, built part time in my garage.Rigged with a 2021 Yamaha 25 HP. A light engine, only 126 lbs, reaches 25 mph. Nav lights, GPS-enabled VHF, Garmin 1400 GPS/Chartplotter, digital engine gauge.
Neal Goman of Minneapolis, Minnesota, built this 12′ Wood Duck Hybrid kayak from plans by by Chesapeake Light Craft.
The stringers, floorboards and wales are Douglas Fir. Stems and “decks” are 12 mm Meranti ply and ribs are Arroyo Willow cut a short distance from the shop. Skin is 8 oz. polyester from George Dyson and it's finished with four coats (1st thinned 7x1) of clear water-based varnish.
The Kara Elizabeth, a CLC Lighthouse Tender Peapod, was launched on Flagstaff Lake, ME on August 1st. This is my first build.
