She is named “Arundel” after her birthplace. My brother and I started work on her hull as a side project while attending the Landing School of Boatbuilding and Design in Arundel, Maine even although her completion and launch would take place in Arizona.
Early September saw the launching of cedar strip planked Stand-Up-Paddleboard, designed and built by Andrew J. Malcomb of Dwarka Boatworks in Central Mass.
An 18′ Lug rigged yawl build which took nearly 1500 hours over 4 1/2 years. The hull is strip planked with Western Red Cedar. Structural parts and interior furniture are Philippine Mahogany. Spars are Sitka Spruce.
SANSTERRE is a marine ply vessel constructed in Western Australia by local Shipwright Alf Fury, from a design by Naval Architect Len Randell, modified and optimised by Alf during build.Originally constructed in 1971 and painted red, she was purchased in 1990 by the current owners.
I built this boat in 1985 for my mother, and this past year did extensive rebuilding of bottom, transom, and converted it to a sprit rigged sailing skiff with a daggerboard. It sails well!
