Geoff and Jean Lee

Geoff and Jean Lee wanted a boat that they could row and sail with equal ease in the open waters of Biscayne Bay, Florida. They found the design for this 18' William Chamberlain Gunning Dory in John Gardner's book The Dory Book.

MOHICAN

Builder Name:
George Weinbrenner

George Weinbrenner started construction on this Adirondack Guide Boat as part of a WoodenBoat school class in the summer of 2001. He feels very lucky to be able to have brought MOHICAN home and finish her out. He launched her in Lake George, NY in September 2002.

FINNISHED

Ed Lungren writes "With a nod to my forbears and amazement at final completion, FINNISHED swam September, 2002, in Lake Gogabic's healing waters. The Catspaw dinghy is carvel planked with local northern white cedar on white oak stem, keel, and frames.

LINDA MARIE

Mark Babcock built a Phil Bolger 15' Diablo design, which he named LINDA MARIE. He writes "I built the hull of fiberglass over plywood as described in the plans but added oak seats and gunwales in place of the plywood called for in the book.

FREEDOM 17 CANOE

Dave Racicot and Ted Moores' WB School class

As a student of Ted Moores' WoodenBoat School class, David Racicot worked on this strip-built Freedom 17 canoe, designed by Steve Killing. David took it home and launched it in September 2002 at Suffolk, VA.

DUCKBOAT

Builder Name:
Wayne J. Graff

Zack Taylor features this duckboat design on the back cover of his book "Successful Waterfowling & Customizing Small Boats." Builder and owner Wayne Graff uses her in Flathead Valley near his home in Kalispell, MT. Her sides are 1 x 10" cedar built over a framework of oak and pine.

FREEDOM 17 CANOE

Byron Marks

Builder Byron Marks writes that this canoe, launched Sept 3, 2002, roughly follows the lines of the Freedom 17 designed by Steve Killing (found in "Canoecraft" by Ted Moores). For the hull, he used white cedar with walnut accents.

ATKINSON TRAVELER CANOE

This Atkinson Traveler, designed by Rollin Thurlow, was built by Otey Smith at the Northwoods Canoe Co. in Atkinson, ME, under the supervision of Rollin Thurlow and Peter Wallace.

DRAGONFLY

Fifteen-year-old Andrew Seguin built this Dynamite Payson designed work skiff between march and August 2002. It is Payson design number 606, 18' long with a 5' beam built out of plywood and mahogany.
