This reproduction 19th/20th Century sprit-rig Core Sound Sailing Skiff was built in 2012, at the Harvey Smith Watercraft Center (Beaufort NC Maritime Museum), during a multi-day wooden boat building course. Core Sound Skiffs were shallow draft work/fishing boats.
This was my first retirement project and my first boat build. It was built from a kit and went together without major problems. It came out of the boat shed officially on April 8th, 2024, hence its name!
A true classic. 21-foot Beachcomber Alpha Dory built by Thames Boatworks (Cyril Thames) in 1986 on Vancouver Island from the plans in John Gardner’s ‘The Dory Book’. Copper fastened Yellow Cedar on Oak. Yellow Cedar spars. Oak rudder and yoke.

This beautiful, seaworthy head turner of a cruising boat was designed and built by the renowned wooden boat builder, Gannon and Benjamin. Equipped with a BMW, Yanmar marine 260-hp engine she cruises at 16 knots with a range of over 200 miles.

In the water, rigged and ready to sail away Fiddlers Green is a T. Harrison Butler Englyn gaff rigged cutter launched 1960. Strip planked with zero rot, she was rebuilt in 2016-18, new main 2021, new Beta Marine 20 in 2021. Perfect, classic weekend cruiser. Photo taken 7-12-24.
14 foot. Strip planked. Has fiberglass skin from spray rails down. Some rot on bottom of transom and stem bottom. A half dozen broken and rotten ribs. Nice mahogany seats and transom. Would make a great project. Needs restoration. $400. No trailer.
