The CS23 is an offshore boat based on the Carolina Sport Fishing boats lines.

I originally designed this kayak for a customer with a lake house in Wisconsin. He is a fit, athletic guy with almost no experience in a kayak. He wanted something he felt comfortable in, yet which would move along nicely.

Accomodates 2-4 for daysailing, and has a small cuddy cabin. Construction: Carvel Planked over sawn frames. Alternative construction: Strip, or strip bottom with plywood sides. Lofting is required. Plans include 7 sheets.

Simon found an older version of this boat back in the eighties and realized that its thousand-year-old design could be copied and preserved without too much difficulty. He measured it out in ’89 and Bill Nielsen lofted it and drew up the plans in ’91.

ALBATROS 26’ is the smallest sister of the ALBATROS family, our modern classic yachts. Far its size it cannot be defined a “blue water yacht” but it is a seaworthy boat.
