After having some uneasy rows on the Strait of Georgia, I decided that a self-bailing sliding seat boat was required. I volunteered at the Coastal Rowing championships in 2018 and decided the coastal rowboat would be perfect.

PACIFIC LOON is a classic express cruiser with a carvel planked red and yellow cedar hull and solid mahogany transom and cabin sides, finished bright. The cockpit hardtop has been extended to the transom, matching the existing roof and sides.

Cedar strips canoe of the Gil Gilpatrick 16′ Laker design. Modifications to the design includes ash stem guards and scuppered inner gunwals. Hull materials include Western Red Cedar, Eastern White Cedar, and Alaskan Pine accent strips. Stems, gunwals, seats and yoke are ash.

NIMBUS was raced out of Sheridan Shores Yacht Club (Wilmette Harbor, IL) in the 1940s by her original owner, Dr. Earl Lux. About 65 years later, his grandson commissioned a full restoration at West Bay Boat Works in Traverse City, MI.

HOLIDAY was recently sailed from Mattapoisett, MA to her new homeport of Portland, ME. At 24 years young, I am beyond excited for the opportunity to be steward of such a beautiful vessel so early on in life.

This Didi 23 was built over the course of 2 years and 4 months. She was launched in October of 2022. She has a couple of modifications from the original design. First, I added a sugar scoop transom, extending her length by 20 inches.
