NIMBUS was raced out of Sheridan Shores Yacht Club (Wilmette Harbor, IL) in the 1940s by her original owner, Dr. Earl Lux. About 65 years later, his grandson commissioned a full restoration at West Bay Boat Works in Traverse City, MI.
“LONE STAR” is a world cruising yacht designed by Naval Architect Jay E. Paris Jr. and built at Mashford Bros Ltd. Shipyard in Cremyll, Cornwall, England.
This vessel was built by Naval Architect Ted Carpentier who also worked as an engineer for Hughes Aircraft and was a personal friend of Howard Huges. It was custom built for the CEO of United Airlines (in fact, the original spinnaker is in United Airlines colors).
This G. Taylor Newell design built by Othar Larsen of Norge Boats in Drobak, Norway is in the water and ready to sail away. Located in Branford, Connecticut she has been maintained by Dutch Wharf Boatyard under the stewardship of a knowledgeable owner.
