October 8th, 1977, twenty-four “21 feet sailing boats” single handed left Penzance (United Kingdom) for Antigua with a stopover in Tenerife.The smallest offshore racing boats were born and so was favourite race: the Mini Transat.

The Mini Skeeter was made primarily as a fun leisure iceboat that I could use on smaller lakes. The goal I was aiming for is a small, comfortable, warm iceboat that looks elegant. The fuselage is about slightly more than10′ long. The beam is 82″.

The Sharpie Cat 42 is a new catamaran design from a regular WoodenBoat contributor, author and marine architect Reuel B. Parker. She is a fast cruising cat with accommodations for eight in four cabins.

This design was inspired by Ross Lillistone’s “Water Rat”. The bow transom was replaced by a pointed stem. Also the internal volume and from there the displacement of the boat were increased by about 20%. Changes were made to the seating arrangement as well.

MARSH HEN offers seaworthy and seakindly performance, good speeds with modest horsepower, and handsome looks. Her plywood construction is more accessible to amateur builders.
