The candlefish is a versatile small fishing boat. Originally designed to be a cartoppable fishing skiff for high latitude rivers and lakes, she has also proven to be an excellent yacht tender.

A roomy auxiliary sloop in a small package.
Construction: Carvel planked over steamed frames.
Alternative construction: Cold-molded or strip.
Lofting is required.

Thank you for considering my plans for BOWLER, a “cruising” version of my TOP HAT launch. These boats are descended from Harry Bryan’s inspired Handy Billy design, which in turn can trace it’s origins back to William Hand's vee bottom designs from the early 20th century.

The design of the Fisherman 23′ came from the request of a customer to build a sport fishing boat, fast, trailerable and also comfortable for family trips.
It’s a boat of modern design that is inspired by the American fisherman, with forms less pronounced.

The i550 is a very popular 18 foot stitch and glue design. Simple construction and avid builder blogs and websites add a sense of community and support for the builder.
