LONGBOAT REPLICAS

Over a period of a few months in 2008 Shelburne, Nova Scotia craftsmen and volunteers built two 23-foot boats from plans of the launch carried by Capt. Bligh's HMAV BOUNTY. The launches participated in Shelburne's commemoration of the "Loyalist Landing," a 1783 influx of 30,000+ loyalists who left the U.S. at the close of the War for Independence. Since then, the Shelburne Longboat Society maintains the launches and participates in local events, offers rowing programs, and draws attention to the region's wooden boat-building history. http://www.shelburnelongboats.com/
