A 14' Classic Style Runabout

Stable, easily handled family daysailer with a lead ballast keel. Construction: Carvel planked over steamed frames. Alternative construction: Cold-molded or strip. Lofting is required. Plans include 9 sheets.

TITICAT is a 9-meter sailing catamaran designed with a modern style for the transport of tourists and to build in strip planking. It was designed to sail on Lake Titicaca (Bolivia).

This design was inspired by Ross Lillistone’s “Water Rat”. The bow transom was replaced by a pointed stem. Also the internal volume and from there the displacement of the boat were increased by about 20%. Changes were made to the seating arrangement as well.

This is a design for a basic hull made from one piece of closed cell foam 1m x 4m x 50mm thick.

ZEN is a very simple 10 Foot boat (www.diecipiedi.it) particularly narrow and therefore unstable. It is not the right boat for a beginner but, in the hands of a good helmsman, it may be fast.

The boat is nice to row - a good combination of tippy enough for an intermediate, yet after a few days a novice will get the hang of it.
