THE SHEIK

THE SHEIK is a beautiful mahogany cold molded speed boat. It was built in 1985 as a replica of a 1920s Gold Cup racer. The builder is Harvard Forden and he consulted with famed naval architect C. Douglas Van Patten on the hull shape and design. Mr. Van Patten was noted for his work designing Gold Cup racers. The specifications of The Sheik are elsewhere in this listing. The Sheik has received numerous awards in boat shows since H. Jay Spiegel became its owner in December 2016. They are pictured and include: in 2017 at the ACBS Chesapeake Chapter festival, BEST RACE BOAT and JUDGES' CHOICE; in 2019 at the ACBS Chesapeake Chapter festival, BEST CONTEMPORARY and PEOPLES' CHOICE; in 2019 at the ACBS Finger Lakes Chapter boat show, BEST RACE BOAT; in 2020 at the ACBS Finger Lakes Chapter Virtual boat show, PEOPLES' CHOICE award; in 2021 at the ACBS Chesapeake Chapter festival, HAGERTY's CHOICE award; in 2022 at the ACBS International Boat Show on Lake Champlain in Burlington, VT, a GOLD AWARD; in 2022 at the Concours d'Elegance in Easton, MD, 2nd place award among all boats; and in 2023 at the ACBS Chesapeake Chapter festival, a PLATINUM AWARD achieving a score of 99 out of 100 points.
