Cowichan Bay Maritime Centre

Sometimes it is fun to put together a boat that takes little time to build and has a wealth of uses. Last winter at the Cowichan Bay Maritime Centre and Wooden Boat Society in Cowichan Bay we downloaded from the internet a set of plans for a small dinghy that is stitch and glue.

Boat built by owner over three years, working part time during winter months. Some minor design changes from original plans, such as built in fuel tank in bow rather than loose tanks on deck, changed console layout, forward seat layout, added spray rails.

Annemarie was launched in 1936 in Cygnet, Huon Valley, Tasmania. She was built by the Wilson Brothers of Cygnet in the Huon Valley.

This is my first boat, a Penobscot 17 designed by Arch Davis. I built the boat with a bright finish cypress/teak deck, cypress faced sheerstrake, and white oak coaming, rub rail and flooring. A slight modification was made to the width and curve of the sheerstrake.
