October 8th, 1977, twenty-four “21 feet sailing boats” single handed left Penzance (United Kingdom) for Antigua with a stopover in Tenerife.The smallest offshore racing boats were born and so was favourite race: the Mini Transat.

The traditional yawlboat is a hard-working boat, carried on the stern davits of a larger working vessel. They have sweet shapes to be easily driven and as was befitting the pride of workmanship that went into their construction.This latter day version is much lighter and smaller in size.

Simon found an older version of this boat back in the eighties and realized that its thousand-year-old design could be copied and preserved without too much difficulty. He measured it out in ’89 and Bill Nielsen lofted it and drew up the plans in ’91.

This schooner is designed to be able to cruise offshore with a crew of four people.
Here heavy displacement and built down hull will make for a comfortable motion

Wynfall is a small but capable cruising boat -- although only 26' long, she has a waterline of almost 24', and displaces 9500 lbs.
