Didi 40cr radius chine plywood cruiser/racer

Austral’s design is an outgrowth of my 26' Wynfall design, intended to provide additional space below decks, including standing headroom. She is slightly heavier, longer and wider, and has more freeboard than her smaller sister.

It’s hard to imagine you could make a nicer gift for your favorite munchkin. Created by Buckley Smith (author of Moonsailors) this animated rocking dory is oozing with personality.

The Tolman Skiff has a Dory heritage with a “V” bottom and was designed to handle the inland and open waters of Alaska and is a very capable ocean skiff.

The idea behind this design was to see how much boat can be squeezed out of a single sheet of plywood 4x8′ (1220 x 2440mm). The resulting boat is suitable for kids to paddle on ponds or very small lakes.

The TRICKY FIVE has been conceived for a precise scope: to realize a boat, which in relation to its size would maximize the ratio between speed and cost. This means that for a determined cost for materials and hours of construction required, it would be the fastest possible.

A great family boatbuilding project! Build it in a weekend from a kit, or build it from plans using local materials.

In the spring of 2013, I started to write a book called, How to Design a Boat using SketchUp 3D Software. The subject matter was my design, ‘Kalostyn’.
