Re- Launching 1941 Herreshoff 12 1/2

This original Herreshoff 12 1/2 was one of the last to come off the line of Herreshoff Manufacturing Company in Bristol, Rhode Island.  WASP was purchased by Nick Voulgaris III in 2004 and he actively sailed her for close to twenty years.  Through the years he performed numerous upgardes himself including steam-bending approximately 20 new frames, several floor timbers, the garboard planks and aft deck.

But by 2023, she was almost 80 years old, and ready for a full restoration.  Nick commissioned the International Yacht Restoration School in Newport, Rhode Island to perform a total rebuild. The results are stunning as can be seen in the images.  She was relaunched in May of 2025 at the IYRS graduation.
