KIKI

Reminiscences about racing war canoes at summer camp gave Rex Rothing and Bot Clinefelter the idea to build a war canoe (or two) of their own. After searching for plans on the internet, without any luck, they discovered Adney and Chapelle's book "The Bark and Skin Boats of North America, " which contained a plan for a large voyageur canoe. They used white cedar for planking on ash frames, and then 'glassed and epoxied the hull. Gwen Tisdal caned all of the seats. KIKI holds 13 paddlers and 2 passengers.
