Kaholo 12.5 Stand-Up Paddleboard

At The Folk School of Fairbanks, Alaska, last August, a group of students and their instructors, Andy Reynolds and Bruce Campbell, built a 12′6″ Stand-up Paddleboard in a little over two weeks. The stitch-and-glue board was built from plans by Chesapeake Light Craft, www.clcboats.com. The class launched the boat in the recently opened Tanana Lakes Park in Fairbanks on Labor Day last year, September 7, 2015.Student Sarah Madsen was fortunate enough to be able to buy the board for the cost of materials. She and her son, Stanley, are spending a lot of time on the Tanana Lakes getting to know their new board. The nearby Chena River is another favorite paddling spot. This was the first boat launching by The Folk School. They have another paddleboard class scheduled for Spring 2016. Andy Reynolds took these photographs.
