GRATITUDE

Lunenburg Nova Scotia is synonymous with Schooners and this summer saw the launching of the schooner Gratitude.  This 26'6 on deck, 31' overall schooner was built by Andrew Rhodenizer in Lunenburg's famed big boat shed. (birthplace of Bluenose II, HMS Bounty and HMS Rose)  Gratitude is a carvel planked schooner and finished with linseed oil paint.  She was rigged and sailing in time for the annual Nova Scotia Schooner Association races.

While building the schooner, Andrew also built a traditional banks dory for James TarantinoAfter transporting the dory to Massachusetts, James and Sarah LeWine proved Heart of Gloucester's sea worthiness by rowing the dory from Gloucester to Lunenburg in time to witness the annual dory races held between those two rival fishing towns.
