ROBIN HOOD II

ROBIN HOOD II is built of solid Jarrah planking, Karri ribs and Wandoo keel stem horn timber with Nyatoh and Melunak fit out. She is a 32′ long timber Pilot Cutter built in Western Australia in 1958 by Van Giels Ship Builders Pty of Point Perron, Rockingham. The original owner died while the boat was still under construction by Van Giels. ROBIN HOOD was moved out of the shed partially finished and put up for sale. She sat in that state for some years before being bought by Vincenzo Lombardo and used for cray fishing for 10 years on the Western Australian coast and was named ROBIN HOOD II.She was purchased by Keith Holdsworth in 1979 and completely restored at Aquarama yacht club. She changed hand several times then in 2006 was purchased by Bill Lowden and kept at Royal Perth Yacht Club until 2016.Since changing hands in 2016 she is gradually being restored. The mast has been stripped and restored and revarnished. The topsides have being cleaned up and repainted. In 2018 15 sister ribs were fitted in the forward cabin in order to stabilize the planking. Rigging has been replaced and Belaying pins installed. In 2019 the fit out was removed from the saloon and 4 large laminated ring frames were fitted to strengthen the midships section. The decks and cabin top have been repainted. New hatches & ladders have been made.
