RANDOM Hurricane 30

RANDOM was built in 1949 in Sausalito, CA by Nunes Bros Boatyard. She was hull #7 of 17 of the Hurricane 30 class yachts built in the 40s and 50s.

She was formerly known as CHICHI in 1948, then in 1953 she was known as Leilani, and then in 1955 Bert Clausen became her owner and she became RANDOM. She was named by Andrea Grossman, of Mrs Grossman’s Sticker Factory! She’s been in the Clausen family until 2024 when we acquired her. She won the Sir Thomas Lipton Pacific Coast Perpetual Trophy (which was an exclusive Hurricane Class Trophy from 1952 to 1973) in 1961 and 1968. In the 1959 Yachting Year Book for the Hurricane class it is the photo of #7 Random who represented the Hurricane one design class. She’s currently having a bit of a facelift and is based in San Rafael.
