Alden Teel

For more information on the history of the type and the model, see my other wooden boat registered sharpie "Lyova Marie" https://www.woodenboat.com/register-wooden-boats/lyova-marie.

This one, built in 2012 off the same lines, was never finished and was given up to me recently in sad shape, I just now finished fully refurbishing and completing her. I've named her "Alden Teel" after my father Alden Teel Ring  who lived from 1927 to 2015. He, like myself, was an avid proponent of the type; he grew up on the Westport river fooling around with these boats and we both believe these simple, practical craft deliver the most bang for the buck. They can't be beat for just having a great day in protected waters. Easy to construct, they ride nicely on a flat trailer. They set up fast, point well and have good speed. They are maneuverable and do well in very shallow water and are not too bad to look at. They also go well with an 8' pair of oars and an electric motor.
