Nautical Ocean Plait Mat Workshop

This class will teach the marlinspike seamanship art of making a Nautical Ocean Plait Mat. The ropework mat you’ll make is sometimes referred to as a Napoleon Mat or Block Mat. They can be used for a boat’s companionway ladder steps, as an entry mat at the front door of your house, or even for a wall decoration. You’ll learn how the mat is constructed from beginning to end, and how constructing a jig will assist in speeding up the mat making process. Participants will take their finished products home with them.

This class is from 6 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. at the Gig Harbor BoatShop. (register by March 10). Fee for Workshop:  Members $25 | $35 non-members
