Nautical Ladder Mat Workshop at the historic Eddon Boatyard

This class will teach the marlinspike seamanship art of making a Nautical Ladder Mat. The ropework mat you’ll make is sometimes referred to as a Napoleon Mat or Block Mat. They can be used for a boat’s companionway ladder steps, as an entry mat at the front door of your house, or even for a wall decoration. You’ll learn how the mat is constructed from beginning to end, and how building a jig will assist in speeding up the mat making process. Participants will take their finished products home with them.
