The ELF Classic

Join ELF and other classic sailing yachts for the 3nd annual ELF Classic Yacht Race—a true yachtsman’s race. The yachts will start their race, to the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum in St. Michaels, at the Eastport Yacht Club in Annapolis.

A fleet of classic yachts will join ELF in a cloud of traditional sail for a race run in the style of the 1880s featuring the nautical version of a “Le Mans start.” Captains will be rowing to their vessels in Annapolis harbor from the Eastport Yacht Club competing to be the first to raise their anchors, sails and get underway. Spectators and guests will be welcome to watch this unique 9 a.m. start off the Eastport Yacht Club and then spend the day at the museum in St Michaels as the racing fleet runs in during the afternoon. Captains will anchor off the museum and row to shore and sign the race log at the Tolchester Beach Bandstand on the museum grounds.

In addition to the race, there is a best-dressed ship competition, no-host cocktails/dinner at the Eastport Yacht Club on Friday, May 17th, and an awards ceremony to be held Saturday afternoon on the grounds of the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum.

Please consider joining or sponsoring this 3rd annual event, which will raise funds for the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum, ELF’s homeport on the Chesapeake.
