Jerry and Cheryl Morrow

Jerry and Cheryl Morrow wanted a canoe that could be easily portaged and carried in the back of a pick-up truck, so they modified this Chestnut Prospector canoe by cutting it in half. Each half weighs 42 pounds. GEMINI is strip-built of poplar strips with ash trim.

WALTZING MATILDA

Paul Day

Paul Day of Kalgoorlie, Western Australia, built this folding schooner, Phil Bolger design 268. WALTZING MATILDA is 31 feet long and 5 feet long. Paul reports she planes through the water at a 'scorching speed'. He and his wife launched her on a lake near their home.

SELKIE

Virginia Gerardi

Virginia Gerardi attended the WB show in Mystic, CT in 1996 and was inspired to build a boat. It took her three years, but in October of 1999 she launched SELKIE, a 15' weekend skiff, featured in the book The Weekend Skiff by Richard Butz and John Montague.

Melonseed Skiff

Brian and Brenda Isaacs built this Melonseed skiff in the early 1990s. They used the information in Howard Chapelle's book "American Small Sailing Craft," extending the length by 18" to make room for their cargo of children and dogs.

LAUGHING LOON KAYAK

The hull and deck of the Rob Macks-designed kayak are western red cedar with aspen accent strips. The coamings are made of laminated ash. Both deck and hull are covered inside and out with fiberglass cloth and epoxy.

'TEER

Ron Breault built this boat to use as a tender to MARIONETTE, hence the name ’TEER. Though he launched her “in the last century” his enthusiasm for ’TEER has not waned and he showed her at the 2009 WoodenBoat Show, where she looked just gorgeous.

SEMI-DORY SKIFF

Frank Fletcher spent two winters taking apart and rebuilding this boat he rescued from a neighbor's shed. He was able to reuse 80% of the original parts. He 'glassed the bottom up to the first strake to help protect it from its future use on his beach.
