CASSIOPEA is said to be based on Charles Wittholz “Prudence” but there are significant difference. LOD is 25ft, her long bow sprit and boom make up the rest of her 38ft LOA. Built in Livorno Italy, she is mahogany plant on frame.

This is a cedar-on-oak Catspaw Dinghy, fastened with bronze screws. The stem is a single piece- without stem knee or joint of any kind- of American Larch, and the keel and transom knee are white oak.

Constant Camber construction. Main hull has inner/outer layers of 1/14″ fir, sandwiching two layers of cedar. Amas are three layers of fir. Started building 30 years ago!!
