NIRVANA is Island Clipper #6 built by Fellows and Stewart in San Pedro, CA in 1946, and actively sailed on San Francisco Bay. Some 40 Island Clippers were produced after WWII from plans drawn in 1939 by Merle J.

The Welsford Navigator, Puffin, was launched on June 5, 2016. This is my first scratch built boat. Okume plywood was used throughout with white oak and Brazilian cherry for the various and sundry bits.

THANE

Joshua Slocum’s voyage alone around the world (1895-1898) is among the most famous feats of single-handed voyaging of all time. SPRAY was given to Slocum by a friend in 1892. The vessel had been abandoned in a field seven years earlier. Slocum rebuilt her, then in 1895 struck out on his voyage.

Sulkava is a two person sliding seat row boat that readily converts to a single. It is designed by Ruud Van Veelen a Dutchman living in Finland. I chose this design as I was after something that was fast and elegant but suitable for two novice rowers.

The yawl CALYPSO was built in 1909, and launched as MICHIGAN into Benton Harbor, Michigan (her name was changed to CALYPSO in Tampa, Florida, 1937).My Dad bought CALYPSO in 1966 from Judge Rupert Crittenden (head judge for the Berkeley sit-in trials).
