THE OTHER SIDE is a 16 foot drift boat built to fish the upper Kenai river for trophy rainbow trout. She is built on a Don Hill design and constructed primarily of clear fir by Sailor Ellison, and Bill Blanas in Nikiski Alaska.

GYPSY

Gypsy is a 14′ dory built over the winter by Bill Blanas with the help of his minions George Rhodes and Adrian Reinhardt. It is built primarily of Sitka spruce, and was launched this September at Jewel Lake in Anchorage, Alaska, in a carnival-like atmosphere.

Isobune

On May 9, 2016, the Takenaka Carpentry Tools Museum in Kobe, Japan, launched this 22′9″ Isobune, a type of fishing boat developed in Tohoku, Japan. The boat was built as an exhibition at the museum by Douglas Brooks, who is a boatbuilder from Vergennes, Vermont.

WU WEI

Swarup Wood and Jim Thompson

WU WEI is a Gloucester Light Dory recently relaunched and “reimagined” by Jim Thompson who rows her and fishes from her on Monterey Bay in California. In 1992, Thompson’s friend Swarup Wood followed plans by Dynamite Payson and Phil Bolger to build the 15′6″ dory and named her VINAYA.
