SKYLARK is a 1947 Blanchard 33. She was designed by William Garden, who was in his 20’s when he drew the class. SKYLARK is number 3 of 9 built, the last being built as a yawl.My family was the second owner of the boat, purchasing her in 1959. We owned the boat from 1959 to 1974.
After the 7 years of enjoyment from N’ SLOWER, we decided to build CLEAN N'LIGHT. N’ SLOWER still has a lifetime of joy to give but I grew restless. I yelled out to Preston, “I want to build something,” then I broke out the pad and pencil threw down a few lines that turned into a new project.
I found I was in need of a dinghy that needed little maintenance, so I shopped around and found that everything available was either sprayed fiberglass or press formed plastic. The cheap plastic and over priced fiberglass models just weren’t my cup of tea so I decided to design one myself.
