The Navy built thousands of these small wooden boats, only a few survive today. It served as a utility boat transporting and picking up personnel, supplies, and mail.
This durable boat was rebuilt and used by the Lake Champlain Maritime Museum in the early 1990s. Part of that restoration included a cold molded cedar hull laminated over the exterior of the existing hull which appears to be still intact. The boat has been sitting covered since the mid-1990s and is in need of significant restoration. The Buda 4 cylinder diesel engine has not been run since then as well. The boat comes with a tandem axle trailer which with some bearing grease and possible bearing replacement could serve its purpose for a long time. This boat could be repurposed as a great recreational vessel for someone who had the time and motivation.
