This design came about when I got to thinking about having an elegant dinghy for our 34′ Topsail Ketch Sunrise.

The time of England’s racing dinghies was dominated by Uffa Fox’s boat the “Alarm”. Simon's take on the expert design is a tribute to an age of lightning-quick wooden racing boats.

A thoroughly charming boat from the board of a highly respected designer, Eel exudes strength of character.

Construction: Strip, cold-molded, or carvel.

Alternative construction: Lapstrake.

Our pre-cut kits are cut by computer-guided routers to provide you with extremely accurate parts. And, the kits come with just about everything needed except the elbow grease. The ladder frame—the “foundation” of the boat—is now included with the kit.

The Champlain is a good traditional style general purpose recreational canoe.
