This boat is a larger version of my popular POINT COMFORT 18, a traditional Chesapeake Bay workboat type reinterpreted for simpler and more modern construction.
LYS stands for Lumber Yard Skiff. These rugged flat bottom work skiffs were originally designed to be built using materials readily found in most lumber yards- underlayment plywood and spruce framing.

Rustica 570 is a cabin motor boat ideal for coastal cruising and camping. It’s particularly suitable for river tourism in protected waters. The shallow V hull, semi-displacement, is designed for an outboard motor hosted inside the cockpit with a power range between 10 HP and 15 HP.
Very simple workboat for outboard motor power. Suits 8 to 30 hp motors,carry up to six persons, can be built longer or shorter as required.
This design has the same nice interior space layout as Badger, with the addition of quarter berths aft. For a family of four to live aboard, as has been done on one of the sisterships, this provides good separation of the sleeping spaces.
The Headwater Fourteen [H-14] was designed and the prototype built in the Summer of 1985 to test the viability of using frameless, stressed skin construction to build a serviceable Whitewater drift boat.
Construction: Strip planked and glass/epoxy sheathed.
Alternative construction: Cold molded, traditional wood and canvas lapstrake plywood.
No Lofting required.
