Construction - Glued Lapstrake clinker plywood. No Lofting required. Plans include 5 sheets with instructions. Sail Area - 67 sq. ft.
Designed by John C. Harris, this light but sturdy fishing and utility skiff—a “crab skiff,” as they’re known on the Chesapeake Bay—has been dubbed the “Peeler” after the Chesapeake slang for a local delicacy, soft-shell crabs.

Simon found an older version of this boat back in the eighties and realized that its thousand-year-old design could be copied and preserved without too much difficulty. He measured it out in ’89 and Bill Nielsen lofted it and drew up the plans in ’91.
