Wood Duck Hybrid

Neal Goman of Minneapolis, Minnesota, built this 12′ Wood Duck Hybrid kayak from plans by by Chesapeake Light Craft. The hull isstitch-and-glue plywood, and the deck is strips of walnut and red and white cedar. He launched last September at Lake Harriet. The skyline of Minneapolis is just visible in the background of the picture. Neal plans to paddle in the lakes and rivers of Minnesota and Wisconsin with his Wood Duck. This is his second boat; he built a skin-on-frame baidarka at the WoodenBoat School many years ago.
