JOLi

Inspired by George Cockshott's International 12 dinghy, Rein Schermerhorn "kept the main characteristics" of the Int'l. 12 in mind as he designed and built JOLi for use in the canals and shallow lakes near his home in the northwest of Holland. He used 3/8" Bruynzeel plwood for her multichined hull and laminated mahogany for structural members. The Douglas fir mast is made by the bird's mouth method and the aluminum centerboard is mounted in a cassette, which fts in the centerboard trunk to facilitate maintenance. Rein reports that JOLi is "light on the helm, well balanced, tacks easily...and is a joy and a challenge ot sail."
