Haven 12.5 launched in Lohjansaari, Finland

Jaakko Toiviainen found in fall 2021 a neglegted Haven 12,5 bare hull in the corner of the boat hall where he kept his sailing yacht. It appeared that the hull had been built by a professional boatbuilder some twenty years ago, but for some reason never completed. She was owned by the boatyard, but they had no plans for her. Jaakko bought the hull, ordered drawings from WoodenBoat Store, transported the hull to summer cottage by a big lake and started completing her there. The project was completed in June 2024 and the yacht launched on June 28. She got name OPAS, which is formed from the first letters of the names of Jaakko's four grandchildren, who all were born during the project: Otso, Pauli, Antto, Sofia. OPAS in Finnish means “Guide” and the idea is that she will guide the grandchildren in the secrets of sailing a gaff-rig yacht and guide them to interesting destinations of the lake.
