Cape Cod Oystering Sharpie

Miss Crab was built out of Cypress and Mahogany on Oak frames along the Tennessee River. It is a Reul Parker design with some modifications including a slightly more ornate transom which also allows for sculling, a small foredeck, leeboards of oak instead of a centerboard, and a modified Hobie type mast of fir to allow for a self furling main. The original plans called for a LOL of 14 ft but I built it 15 ft since that was the maximum space my shop allowed. The leeboards have actually worked out well allowing for reasonable pointing and extra deck space. She was christened after my mother who was Miss Crab 1949 of Hampton, Virginia.
