Nancy Blackett

The Lady Bug design by Jim Michalak is intended to be a quick-onto-the water, plywood, house painted boat. Together with boatbuilder Greg Hopkins, we decided to upgrade some and use better materials. The plywood is marine grade, there are teak fittings and she is glassed. Greg designed a hammock which fits across the cockpit, to allow for naps or the occasional short cruise. The result is possibly the fanciest Lady Bug on the water anywhere. I was attracted by the concept of a commodious and comfortable boat for a days’ sail with friends ( no more perching on slim thwarts or down in the bilge), coupled with the possibility of using the boat to do some gentle cruise camping with my twelve-year-old daughter. I couldn’t be happier! She is a delight to sail and will I know provide many happy hours of enjoymet for me, my family and friends.
