LILLIAN S.

Built in Astoria, OR. in 1912 as a freighter but spent most of her working career in S.E. Alaska as a salmon trap tender. Massively built of old growth Fir, Lillian's frames are double sawn 8"x 8" on 16" centers except in way of the 16-foot long engine beds where they are on 8" centers. Planking and decking are 3″, ceiling is 2 1/2″. The deck beam shelves are a massive 6″x 27″ bolted into a sheer clamp that is 8″x 18″. Huge hanging and lodging knees are throughout the boat. Originally outfitted with a Washington diesel engine, Lillian has been repowered several times. The latest is a turbocharged Cummins 855 6-cyl diesel. She has a Twin Disc gear with 6:1 reduction which turns the original screw at 300 RPM when cruising at 10 knots and holds 2400 gallons fuel and 1400 gallons fresh water.
