GOLDENEYE

Meet the sailing vessel Goldeneye! Once restored she will be shared by the families of our fallen heroes & wounded warriors from Maine. Learn more about the Goldeneye Project here >> http://www.goldeneyeproject.com

Goldeneye is a 45 foot long wooden sloop handcrafted in 1981 by Lee’s Boat Shop in Rockland, Maine.

Ãistein “Lee” Lie-Nielsen (the guy who built this sailboat) was originally form Norway and he was also a United States Marine Corps Veteran.

She was donated to the families of our fallen by U.S. Army Veteran Manley Yates. He called her Goldie!

She is an old boat that will need a bit of work before she goes back in the water. She was last in the water a few years ago.

She was designed by Henry A. Scheel and once owned by the Maine Maritime Academy. She came to us with a 65′ carbon fiber mast, aluminum boom, sails, bimini top, marine radio, depth finder and brass bell. All she needs now is some restoration work and she’ll be back in the ocean again!

Goldeneye has found a new home through June 1st 2015! She is being stored at 121 Bishop Street in Portland if you want to drive by and see her. The lot she is sitting in was donated by Seabreeze Property Services.

She was moved by Dayton Industrial Marine & B&B Towing will be moving the 65 foot mast shortly. Moving expenses were fully covered by an anonymous donor.

We’re looking for volunteers to help get her restored and we’ll be bringing her back to life as soon as the snow melts!
