ELIZABETH

ELIZABETH is a Saint Lawrence River Skiff based on the 19th-century original ANNIE in Mystic Seaport’s collection. Her owners began construction in 1984 by giving birth to the builder and painstakingly raising him for eighteen years. The builder meandered through some of the stranger parts of the world until he acquired the skills of a boat carpenter. He laid the keel in 2015 and launched her into the freezing waters of the Pawcatuck River in February of 2017.

She is lapstrake planked in Atlantic white cedar over an oak centerline, with oak frames bent in. Her interior is of mahogany, with cherry decks and birdseye maple accents.
