Building a Midget Flyer Runabout Part 2
In part 1 of this series, which appeared in the previous issue (WB No. 275), we assembled the frames and backbone of this little Flyer, set them up, and installed the chines and battens. Here, we install the hull and after deck planking.
Step 12—Make plank patterns
To make patterns for the bottom planks, first mark the centerline of each batten down the full length of the hull. The planks should be symmetrical, so, theoretically, you could make patterns for one side of the boat and reverse them for the other side. It is good practice, however, to pattern each plank just in case of discrepencies.
