XII International Azorean Whaleboat Regatta

-

The Azorean Maritime Heritage Society will be hosting 40 people from the Azores (Faial and Pico) for the XII International Azorean Whaleboat Regatta. There are only 63 authentic Azorean Whaleboats in the world and New Bedford, MA is home to 3 of them. The rest are in the Azores, Portugal.

Every 4 years the regatta lands in Clark's Cove, New Bedford, with the alternate years taking place in Faial and Pico. Due to the pandemic, the last time it was hosted in New Bedford was 2017. We welcome this tremendous celebration for the love of the sea, these incredible boats, and this Transatlantic camaraderie - a true cultural exchange.

Schedule of events:
Friday, September 8 - Women and mens rowing
Saturday, September 9 - Women and men sailing
Sunday, September 10 - Mixed teams rowing, including participants from the community.

All are welcome to spectate and take part in the festivities.
Details can be found on our website https://www.azoreanmaritime.org
