Lunenburg Wooden Boat Reunion

Attention wooden boat builders, owners and admirers!

The 4th annual Lunenburg Boat Reunion is taking place July 26-27 on the historic waterfront at Lunenburg, Nova Scotia, Canada — a famous shipbuilding port and UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Join us for two action-packed days celebrating our shared passion for wooden boats. There will races of craft large and small, sail, oar and motor powered. There will be demonstrations by boatbuilders, oarmakers and other marine artisans. There will be music and children's activities, and lots of time just to sit and chat and admire the beautiful boats on hand.

If you are a boat owner, you should join us! Sign up for our anchor event, the Nova Scotia Schooner Association’s Heritage Cup Race, run Saturday concurrent to a race for wooden sloops and ketches. A stunning parade of sail past the iconic red and blue buildings that make this waterfront identifiable the world over precedes the race and is itself a photographer’ dreamscape, while post-race the boats dock and raft along a number of publicly-accessible wharves where owners have been known to welcome curious passersby aboard for a closer look.

Small boats are also center stage as part of dockside displays and races like Sunday morning’s sail off or the always popular Putt Putt Race featuring double-ended Bush Island boats powered by melodious Make and Break engines. New this year, we've added a Fast and Furious competition where teams will be given four hours and a matching collection of materials to build a boat. All builders — professional and amateur — are welcome and all materials will be provided.

A race of the completed craft is sure to be a highlight of the two-day festival, as spectators watch to see which builder sails away with the title, or simply which boats float!
