Lakelands and Inland Waterways of Ireland International Sailing Raid

-

Albacore/Dacmar Events is presenting the long-time expected sailing raid through Ireland. This new raid is aimed to run a high-level sailing event through the unusual genuine landscape and atmosphere in inland Ireland. It will be an original mix of sailing and adventure, combining high competitiveness and conviviality, very different from other traditional sailing events. It will cover 190 km on a north/south course, from Lough Erne and the Shannon lakes and river until Killaloe at the southern end of Lough Derg.

The Lakelands and Inland Waterways Ireland Sailing Raid will, to the organizers' knowledge, be the first raid run with One Design Boats. Two classes of traditional Irish sailing boats, among the oldest classes in the world, have been selected to take part in this raid: Class 1, Shannon One Design, 18'; Class 2, Water Wags, 15'. There will also be a Class 3, Open boats,  5 to 7.5 m. These boats can be traditional craft or of the traditional type and also recently built boats inspired (or not) by tradition and using traditional or modern materials for their construction.
