Highway to the Hudson: The New York State Canal System and the Spread of Invasive Species into the Hudson River

-

This February, Hudson River Sloop Clearwater is hosting a Winter Virtual Learning Series consisting of thought-provoking educational virtual talks and presentations about issues directly affecting the Hudson River. Our Feburary 22 presentation will be about invasive species and the New York State Canal System.

The New York State Canal System has long served as a thoroughfare for commerce - additionally, the canal system also is a thoroughfare for aquatic invasive species to move into new waterways - including the Hudson River watershed. Join aquatic ecologist Stuart Findlay as he explores the ecological impacts and potential solutions to the movement of aquatic invasive species through the New York State Canal System with minimal effects on (without harming) commercial and recreational use.
